Emma

I have had the privilege of knowing Emma through SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates) as well as through the Folsom Quilt and Fiber Guild.  She is such a treasure.  I know Emma is in the heart and soul of the Folsom guild, always active and volunteering, always sought out new members to welcome them, always ready to help or answer questions.  Her incredible artistry is unique and something I envy.  Several years back she put on a trunk show at Tayo's and I was amazed at the stories behind her garments, the mistakes that she made into design opportunities, the beauty and artistry of the garments.

In my first year of entering the Folsom Guild garment challenge, I was dropping off my entry at the same time Emma was.  I was admiring her work and of course, noticed her impecable handwork-it was the year she did a crazy quilt vest.  Wondering how she achieved such precisely spaced stitches, I assumed she must have used Tiger Tape (an adhesive backed product that is used for making perfectly spaced stitching).  So I asked her if she had used Tiger Tape and of course, she had no idea what Tiger Tape was, she just had that precision in her own head!

Emma is always so kind and supportive to me, willing to share knowledge and tips, just for the asking.  She is such a generous and lovely person-I will miss her much.  My love and prayers to all of you-thank you for giving us all a place to share our memories.

What is Your Emma Story?

This blog is a chance to remember and honor Emma by bringing us together in a way that can only be done through a medium like the internet. We love her, we will miss her, but she's here for a short time still, and we want to smile and cry and laugh together with her as much as possible while we can.

Emma has touched a monumental number of lives through her work as a mother, grandmother, friend, teacher, artist, and to Ted as a dear wife. There are countless stories that have already been told many times, and there are many others that we're going to learn for the first time as we read them here.

PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS, STORIES AND PICTURES!!!

Not only will we be able to laugh and smile together, even after Emma has passed, but we will be sharing this blog with Emma. If you have a story, long or short, silly or sad, pensive or outrageous, please take some time and share it with us and Emma.

This is such a dear time for all of us. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and prayers.

It's easy! To post to Emma's blog, send an email to emmaallebes.post@blogger.com. If you have a picture(s) that you would like to add, make it an attachment to the email. Your email will post automatically.
