Emma. the laundromat teacher

Dear family,
Lets take a walk down memory lane. Its hard to imagine that the
wonderful Emma is gone. In 1974 Alan, my 3 girls, and a very pregnant
me moved to Fair Oaks. Of coarse, Emma and Ted and girls were the first
to welcome our little family into the ward family. After leaving all
our family and friends in Utah, the ward did indeed become our family.
We all have wonderful memories of Emma, most of them in Emma and Teds
home. Christmas eve was always spent at their openhouse. One of my
favorite memories of Emma was when one day she came over to my house to
have her hair cut and said she had been to the laundromat and couldn't
believe how many people didn't know how to fold fitted sheets! So,
being forever a teacher, she sat everyone down and had a spontaneous
class on folding fitted sheets. Its my favorite picture of Emma in the
laundromat. Every time I fold fitted sheets (yes she made sure I knew
how!) I think of Emma.
Although its been many years since we lived in Fair Oaks and have
seen and laughed with Ted and Emma, they and their family hold
precious places in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with you
all. I think Emma would finally be proud of me. Since moving to Idaho
with its long winters, I have finally discovered quilting. I belong to
a guild and am a professional longarm quilter with a business in my
home. What a miracle! Emma knew that I was not ready for the quilting
world when I lived in California. She knew there was a season for
everything. What a special friend she was.
We love and miss all our friends in Fair Oaks. May the Lord bless
each of you and your family with eternal comfort.

What is Your Emma Story?

This blog is a chance to remember and honor Emma by bringing us together in a way that can only be done through a medium like the internet. We love her, we will miss her, but she's here for a short time still, and we want to smile and cry and laugh together with her as much as possible while we can.

Emma has touched a monumental number of lives through her work as a mother, grandmother, friend, teacher, artist, and to Ted as a dear wife. There are countless stories that have already been told many times, and there are many others that we're going to learn for the first time as we read them here.

PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS, STORIES AND PICTURES!!!

Not only will we be able to laugh and smile together, even after Emma has passed, but we will be sharing this blog with Emma. If you have a story, long or short, silly or sad, pensive or outrageous, please take some time and share it with us and Emma.

This is such a dear time for all of us. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and prayers.

It's easy! To post to Emma's blog, send an email to emmaallebes.post@blogger.com. If you have a picture(s) that you would like to add, make it an attachment to the email. Your email will post automatically.
