EVERYONE'S HOME AGAIN!

Late last night, the last of Mom's family arrived back in town. We were all together last weekend to say 'goodbye' and tell Mom/Oma we love her. Now we're together again this weekend to remember Mom and celebrate her very full life.

Mom was buried yesterday at the Fair Oaks Cemetery - a quiet, small cemetery where my Dad's parents are also buried. It is close to their home and in a neighborhood full of trees. A nice place to rest.

We have more extended family in town this time - Mom & Dad and Brian (my husband) and I last saw them in early August at a family wedding in Southern California. That was a fun celebration of the beginning of a new young family. Today we will be together to celebrate Mom's life full of service, learning, sharing and creativity.

We're looking forward to seeing many of Mom's friends at her Memorial Service today and know that many others will be thinking of us.

The family has been busy preparing for today - clean house, new sheets on the beds for visitors, friends homes available for family to stay, made more black and white checkerboard bows (lots more people know the difference between gingham and check now!), programs prepared, song practiced (sort of), more wonderful food dropped off (2 fridges stuffed full - amazing!), flowers ordered, yard & garden spruced up, old family video converted to DVD for after the service...and lots more.

Gotta go - I have a talk to prepare....how do you capture the life of someone like Mom in 20 minutes?....It's gonna be a Great Day full of tears and laughter!

What is Your Emma Story?

This blog is a chance to remember and honor Emma by bringing us together in a way that can only be done through a medium like the internet. We love her, we will miss her, but she's here for a short time still, and we want to smile and cry and laugh together with her as much as possible while we can.

Emma has touched a monumental number of lives through her work as a mother, grandmother, friend, teacher, artist, and to Ted as a dear wife. There are countless stories that have already been told many times, and there are many others that we're going to learn for the first time as we read them here.

PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS, STORIES AND PICTURES!!!

Not only will we be able to laugh and smile together, even after Emma has passed, but we will be sharing this blog with Emma. If you have a story, long or short, silly or sad, pensive or outrageous, please take some time and share it with us and Emma.

This is such a dear time for all of us. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and prayers.

It's easy! To post to Emma's blog, send an email to emmaallebes.post@blogger.com. If you have a picture(s) that you would like to add, make it an attachment to the email. Your email will post automatically.

Please remember to include your name somewhere in the email/post.
