As I read the latest updates on Emma's Blog (http://emmaallebes.blogspo t.com/?spref=fb), I was struck again by the warmth and passion with which she led her life. Her style was so overt and her taste in color and texture, perfection. But her personality was understated, kind and gracious. Her daughters, her husband, her home and her darling grandchildren all such a tribute to her life and what it meant. It is so comforting to read the reach and the depth of her friendships which I never knew about her.
My visiting teachers came over and I had the opportunity to share one of her creations that I was graciously gifted. As I brought it out to show, I realized with tears in my eyes that the garment smelled like Emma. As I put the garment away, I realized with a smile that part of the untold story of her life may be: not only her Christmas mug collection, or her fabric collection, but the fact that dry cleaners in the greater Sacramento area are getting run on, recently with people, wiping back tears, bringing in "one of a kind" Emma garments requesting special care with these works of fiber art. Imagine the boon for drycleaners in the greater northern California area? Emma would laugh at my observation. But it is true, I think.
